The Future

Current rehabilitation processes have a linear trajectory, beginning with rescue, followed by institutional care, and finally reintegration. Government systems act only as service providers, rather than as active participants in community-based rehabilitation processes or long term employment opportunities or guidance. For many women, the result is that they are forced to return to their previous circumstance.

The trafficked survivors are returned to communities that are now hostile, and stigmatise them, while the pre-existing conditions of violence and vulnerability continue to exist. The added threat of intimidation by their perpetrators further oppresses many survivors.

SEWA Shram Shakti Foundation is working in partnership with various government agencies to provide rehabilitation, mental and physical health counselling, financial literacy, vocational training and on the job skills development in a safe and secure work environment for young women who are part of the program.

The Pyjama Project provides continuity of orders with varying levels of skill requirements to engage workers of all skill levels. Additionally we provide mentorship at senior management level as well as for individuals, ensuring appropriate compensation with a living wage once fully trained, providing these women with the resources to thrive as valued members of society.
